MASTER PLAN FOR SIR BANI YAS DEVELOPMENT (ABU DAHBI)
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) is one of the leading oil and gas companies in the world.
The Landscape accentuates the architecture by responding to
each building’s unique forms. Hardscaped pathways meander and fragment through larger vegetated softscapes, connecting to important buildings and transportation points. Hardscape takes over as the dominant material at major entrances to buildings to provide plazas and gathering spaces for students and activities to spill out from the architecture into the landscape.
Shading is provided where appropriate via palm trees or structured cover. Pools and fountains bring a cooling effect to the outdoor spaces as well as provide acalming presence and sound. Varieties of native plants will flourish in the environment in which they were meant to thrive. Pops and lanes of color are provided by flowering trees and shrubs, while major pathways are lined on each side by majestic palm trees. Alternating paving materials to create patterns breaks up the scale of the plazas and creates interest. Light color paving should be used to reduce the heat island effect, beyond what the shade from trees and cover will already relieve. Lanes for emergency vehicles will be strategically integrated to not standout or interrupt the overall landscape design. Site furniture should foster collaborative gatherings, while also allowing the possibility for quiet reflective/study space. The integration of sculpture as furniture gives further interest and excitement.
